FAQ: Weddings


As Los Angeles Wedding Photographer and Sedona Wedding Photographer, we know from personal experience about what it’s like to have a million and one questions and not knowing where to start.  We are here to help.   Here are some frequently asked questions about and answers to make your wedding planning a bit easier.

Do we receive High-Resolution Images from our wedding?

Yes, all our wedding packages include the High-Resolution Images.  You will be able to download the images directly from an online gallery.   We also offer ordering through our professional lab so that we can customize each image before it’s printed.  We also encourage purchasing heirloom products, like a wedding album, that can be enjoyed for many decades. When should we expect to get our photos from the wedding?

For smaller weddings, we offer a three week turn around for 100% completion of your wedding photos. For larger weddings, the turn around is four weeks from the date of your wedding.

We are from out of town, how could we meet with you?

Most of our clients live out of town and I schedule Skype meetings and phone calls to get to know them better.  Since most of our clients have a tremendously busy schedule, we also use email to communicate with our clients.

Why are you more expensive than most photographers?

You are paying for experience, our unique style, expertise and peace of mind.   We are seasoned professional photographers and have been doing this full time for twenty years in 2020.   Our experience has prepared us to meet the unexpected with problem-solving solutions.   We are fully insured, licensed and bring with us many years of combined experience and expertise. We’ve also traveled extensively documenting weddings and always deliver exceptional service, stunning images and beautiful products.

What kind of equipment do you use?

We use Professional line Canon cameras, lenses and lighting equipment. Check out some of the equipment we have in our camera bag.

Do you require meals at the wedding?

Yes, please.  Working a wedding is very hard work and each member of the TLP team needs a hot plated meal to fuel our bodies and minds.  We prefer to eat when the couple eats so that we don’t miss any important elements during the reception.

Should we provide a shot list?

Once contracted, we will provide you with an extensive questionnaire.  Along with other helpful information, this form will allow you to enter any requested group photos, etc. for your day.

Where do you post the photos online?

Tangled Lilac values your privacy and will only post your photos online with your permission. If you give us permission, we will post a few to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and our blog.

Are there ways to get my photos to family and friends?

All weddings have an online gallery of all the images from your weddings.  At this gallery, anyone you share the link with can view and order prints.

What other products do you offer besides prints?

We offer archival albums made in Italy, beautiful canvases, custom designed greeting cards, and metal art pieces. Please see our Product Page for many of our beautiful heirloom pieces.

How many photographers will be present at our wedding?

The Tangled Lilac Team has three full-time photographers.  Most larger weddings will require two photographers at a wedding, and most smaller ones can be documented with one photographer and one lighting assistant.  An exception would be a small elopement where only one photographer is required.

Where are you based and are you willing to travel?

We serve all of Northern Arizona, the Grand Canyon and the Phoenix areas.  Our Sedona Wedding Photographer serves all of Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Phoenix events.  Our Los Angeles Wedding Photographer serves the Los Angeles Area, San Fernando Area and all beaches of Southern California.   However, we do travel out of those areas for about 50% of our weddings.  Destination weddings are our niche and we excel at providing unique imagery at all locations.

What is your style?

Our style is classic and timeless.  We don’t like to use trendy photoshop looks in our images.   While we do have many photographers on our team, our editing is done by the same editor to ensure all our images will have the same standard.

How many weddings would you say you shoot each year?

On average, our Los Angeles Wedding photographer shoots about 10 larger weddings (100+ guests) and 12 smaller weddings (less than 100) and about 20 elopements (under 10 people) per year.  Our Sedona Wedding Photographer is about the same, however, the volume of her load is primarly from June through October.

How much do you charge?

Because every wedding is unique, we now develop custom packages for all clients after getting more information.  On average, for larger, full coverage weddings, our wedding clients invest between $2500 to $5000 for their wedding photography.  We also offer coverage for smaller, more intimate weddings (less than 50 guests) and elopement packages (less than 6 people).  If you’re interested in having us document your wedding, please complete the contact form.

Do you require an initial deposit?

I collect a retainer amount of $750, along with a contract, to reserve your wedding date.  In doing so, I will not book another wedding on your secured date.  This amount is, of course, applied to your balance.

How do I reserve you for our wedding?

A signed contract and paid retainer will lock in your date with us. Please fill out the contact form first and we will be in touch about your date within 24 hours.

What forms of payment do you accept? Payment plans?

I accept cash, checks, Venmo, Zelle, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.  Many of my clients have payment plans and pay monthly towards their balance.
