Nestled just a few miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee is the beautiful land of the Cumberland Plateau. Located at the foothills of Lookout and Signal Mountain, this piece of paradise is breathtaking. I am lucky to also call this place home. As little girl, I remember playing on these rolling hills, looking for arrow heads the Cherokee and Creek tribes used hundreds of years ago, and occasionally finding Civil War relics as well. It’s a land filled with history and beauty. And, my heart will always belong there. Needless to say, I was beyond ecstatic to photograph a wedding here.
In November I had the honor of photographing my cousin’s, Evan, and his gorgeous bride, Kelsey’s, wedding at The Barn at High Point Farms in Flintstone, Georgia. Barn and farm weddings are all the rage right now, and if you’re looking for a perfect venue for this type of wedding I highly recommend this beautiful piece of paradise. The venue is complete with a beautifully restored pre Civil War farmhouse (somehow spared from Sherman’s march through the South), a converted goat barn for the reception, rolling hills and gorgeous scenery and, my favorite, resident goats and horses more than willing to participate in the day. The owners converted this working farm to accommodate weddings and they are a delight to work with, so gracious and helpful.
The decor was a rustic, chic and the colors, turquoise and red, the bride choose for her attendants were perfection. The brides nephews were ring bearers and their attire was about as cute as it could get-those overalls were the cutest! The bride and groom also had very adorable flower girls and I loved the wagon for the smallest one!
Kelsey and Even were an absolute delight to work with and I loved their sweetness and adoration for one another. When we did a special moment where the couple held hands across a wall before the ceremony, everyone started to tear up, it was precious. It was so great to see my mother’s side of the family again too. My twin uncles and their families were a huge part of my life growing up, so this particular wedding held an extra level of sweetest in my heart.
Congratulations you two! I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness! ~ Melissa
