We got to hang out with the McMillan clan right after the 4th of July holiday at Forest Highlands Golf Club for their annual family session. This is the fifth time we’ve photographed this sweet family and we’re so astonished of how much little Angus has grown up over the years. What peered into our camera is the beginnings of a sweet young boy and not the little baby from years past. And this family session was a real treat because Greg’s sister, Amby, and niece, Kaitlin, were with us from South Carolina! We love doing family gatherings like this. Think about it, once we enter adult life, and move far away, how often do we really get to spend with our brothers and sisters and their children? We think documenting special visits like this is really wonderful.
And this year, we got to hear the story of how Tracy and Greg met and fell in love. Tracy and Greg are both now active in the running community by running McMillan Elite and McMillan Running and also volunteer their time to get kids active. So, it came as no surprise to learn that these two met while they were members of a university committee geared at getting college kids more active. We loved how this simple meeting grew into such a love.
The McMillans were sweet and invited us the Forest Highlands Club House after the session where we got to talk to Amby and Kaitlin a little more over a glass of wine and dinner. Kaitlin is a student at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. My bother, Tim, flies a medical helicopter for UT-Knoxville Medical Center, so it was nice to hear about his home town, and about her college plans. Then when the topic of sororities came up, Amby and I found out that we are both Pi Beta Phi’s! We went to different universities, but it was a lot of fun talking about our common bond.
We adore the photo of Greg and his sister, Amby. And look at Angus! Like his mom said, I think he’s warming up to us finally :)
