This process can seem daunting and stressful, and believe me, I’ve been in your shoes. With so many variables…wardrobe, finding a makeup artist, location, scheduling, deciding where to hang your artwork, to designing an heirloom album…it can be overwhelming. But I want you to relax and be confident in your choice because I will help you along this journey.
We’ll walk through this process together to eliminate stress and ensure the perfect finished piece of art you’ll love forever.

THE INQUIRY
Fill out the appropriate CONTACT FORM to initiate the process. We will schedule a time that’s good for us both to chat about our services. This call should only take about 10-15 minutes of your time. We’ll tell you how we work, an estimate for investment based on your initial needs and see if this is a good fit.
Don’t be shy as asking any questions you can think of! We’re a little different from most portrait photographers, so we are happy to answer any question you might have about our processes, our artwork and how we work. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable about how you move forward in documenting your family at this time in your life.
If you choose to commission us to create art of your family, we will schedule the following appointments during this call:

- View and Order Appointment
YOUR CONSULTATION
A session consultation will be done over the phone to allow me to get to know a little more about you, your family and what you’re looking for in a portrait session.
We will talk a little about why you’re choosing to have your photos taken at this time, personalities, what session style you might like and clothing and location options.
I also want to hear your vision about where these photos will be displayed in your home or office. Not sure? We are here to help. Some of our clients love hanging art pieces while other love our heirloom albums. We will help you choose the best for your home or office.
This consultation is a great time to ask and get answers to any questions on products and investments. We will review all of our pricing, art collections and total investment. We aim to be transparent with all our processes and total costs.
Please schedule about 45 minutes to one hour for this consultation call.
YOUR CREATIVE SESSION
I realize being photographed professionally can be stressful. All the thought and preparation, finding the perfect wardrobe, the hair, makeup and worry about whether or not your kids or pets will behave and the inevitable argument that ensues on the way to the shoot which may or may not have put dad in a bad mood.
Let it all go! After over twenty years of photographing people and pets my main objective is a great experience for you. You’ll be reminded of this session every time you look at your artwork. I want this memory to be as special as the artwork we’ll create.
So sit back, breathe and enjoy the experience. Your session will last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. We will maximize your time by using the prioritization of groupings we’ve discussed in your Consultation Call.
Believe me, you’re beautiful, your family is beautiful and I can’t wait to show you.
POST-PRODUCTION
There’s a lot of work behind the scenes to make your final images ready for you. It takes us about two weeks for our editing staff to narrow down your images, edit, fine-tune and get your wall mock ups ready for your View and Order Appointment.
Truthfully, this is sometimes the hardest part for us at Tangled Lilac. We get as emotionally invested in your beautiful images as you will! But, as your trusted imaging professional, we will narrow down your images to the most perfect ones you’ll love.
So sit back and wait for the magic to happen!
YOUR VIEW AND ORDER APPOINTMENT
Two weeks after your session you’ll meet with Melissa for your View and Order Appointment on a Zoom call to review your images. Or, if you live in Flagstaff, we can come to you!
At this time you will view the best of your images and make your final choices with our expert assistance by narrowing down your favorites and viewing images side by side to eliminate being overwhelmed. You’ll also have the opportunity to view samples of finished product to further assist in the decision making product.
Your final order is made at this appointment and will be fulfilled within 8 weeks of ordering. And remember, any photos you order for artwork, you will receive a complimentary social media sized file for sharing online!
View and Order Appointments normally take about an hour and a half. Decisions for your artwork purchases will be made at this appointment so plan on everyone being present who need to be a decision maker.
DELIVERY OF YOUR ART
By far one of our favorite things to do is deliver your artwork to your home or office! We can’t wait to see those smiles on the walls and on your face as you admire the beauty of your loved ones.
If you live far away, we will package up your artwork and make sure it gets safely to you via FedEx or UPS.
